While I am sure the would be developers of the Banning Ranch tract homes love their profession, one thing that is the driving force behind the project is greed. It is greed that has devastated our forests worldwide, ruined our oceans due to oil spills, urban run off, and overfishing. But if the Banning Ranch home, retail and hotel project occurs then the Newport/Mesa area will lose a large portion of its last parcel of open space. But the side effects of the project do not stop there; additionally, the project will be the sole cause of a huge rise in traffic to the area, so if you think Victoria, 55 Freeway and PCH are congested now then just wait until this ill-conceived project is completed.
The developers will make their money and run, leaving us residents to deal with the traffic nightmare.
Contact the Newport Beach City Council and urge them to SAY NO to the project.

Our Goal
The goal of the Banning Ranch Defenders is to stop 100% of the proposed development of Banning Ranch. The project calls for 1,375 homes, hotel and retail space would have a permanent devastating impact on the Newport-Mesa area. Studies have shown that the development would bring 14,000 daily vehicle trips to the area, which would only increase our already congested streets. The development would be the single greatest catastrophe to ever occur to the Newport-Mesa area.
The Banning Ranch Defenders are prepared to stop the project via injunctions and lawsuits against the city of Newport Beach and the developers which are the Banning Ranch, LLC. We are currently awaiting the EIR studies and are building a coalition that is comprised of those who want to see the project halted.
